NAME OF HERBAL:-

  • Kacip Fatimah (Labisia pumila, Myrsinaceae, Selusoh Fatimah, Rumput Siti Fatimah, Akar Fatimah, Tadah Matahari, Bunga Belangkas Hutan and Pokok Pinggang.

GENERAL INFO:-

  • The Kacip Fatimah is a A small genus of slightly woody plants of the family Myrsinaceae, Labisia pumila, is found in the tropical rain forests of South East Asia.In Malaysia, it grows wild in rain forest about 80 to 100 metres above sea level.
  • The plants thrive best in shady areas and non-waterlogged humus rich soil.
  • There are few leaves which point upwards. The root is tough and woody with long primary roots and few secondary roots.
  • The tip of the leaf is pointed with a base that is tapered or rather broad –rounded. The leaf has a slight odor and taste. The whole leaf is about 5-35cm long and 2-8cm wide finely toothed with numerous veins. It is of a dark green color on adaxial and lighter green on the abaxial.
  • Flowers on the shrub are very small, generally white or pink, in spike like panicle of small clusters. They range from 6-30 cm long with sepals, petals and stamens.
  • The petals wrap around and enclose the stamens. The fruit are about .5cm in diameter and are either bright red or purple.
  • The plants are usually boiled and water soluble extract taken as a drink.
  • Kacip Fatimah or Labisia pumila affect the levels of the estrogens (female sex hormones). Those hormones may cause an increase in certain hormones that result in an increase in libido and sexuality.
